Women to Watch Class of 2016: Kris Laidlaw
Owner, Certified Massage Therapist at Ray of Light Holistic Health, Inc.
Kris Laidlaw is a Certified Massage Therapist and a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) of nearly 17 years. She was born and raised in Elkhart. She obtained her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Ball State in 1999, and after discovering the strong connection of mind and body, attended and graduated from massage school in Ft. Wayne. She began her career in massage therapy, moved to Phoenix AZ in 2003 to work for a residential treatment center, and after experiencing Reconnective Healing, developed a vision for a holistic healing center back home. The vision includes assisting in revitalizing the community which raised Kris and taught her basic values and ethics of life. She moved home in 2006, opened Ray of Light in 2007, and after several evolutions purchased her own building in partnership with her husband in 2015. She is currently studying to become a Master Aromatherapist and is developing a multitude of free classes and workshops for the community. Now a building owner, Kris welcomes mental health counselors to share the healing space, as well as yoga teachers and an esthetician. Kris and her husband Mike continue to develop the Soak Up The Light brand of products including essential oils, lotions, body oils, and so much more!
Previous Secretary of Elkhart Education Foundation, Previous board member of Women In Business. She took a year off to buy a building for her business and to get married. She will rejoin these fantastic organizations in 2016!
