Women to Watch Class of 2016: Jamie Lee Madison
MSN MBAc RN CCRN House Supervisor, Adjunct Professor of Nursing and Business at Indiana University Health Goshen Hospital, Bethel College, Goshen College
Jamie Lee Madison became an RN in 2007 after several people told her that she was a natural caretaker. She quickly fell in love with critical care medicine and became certified in that specialty in 2011. Jamie then decided to pursue a master’s degree in nursing administration and graduated from Bethel College in 2014. Meanwhile, she had been given increased responsibility in the role of House Supervisor at IU Health Goshen. Through that experience, and her growing knowledge of the issues in her current healthcare system, Jamie decided to pursue an MBA in order to better be able to act as a catalyst for change. While pursuing that degree, she was approached to teach on an adjunct basis for Bethel and Goshen College in the areas of nursing and business. Jamie found that she absolutely loves teaching! It's amazing how many opportunities there are in nursing. It's an incredible joy to get to go to work and do what she loves every day. Jamie says she has the best colleagues in the entire world. They routinely put the needs of strangers before their own. They are intelligent, honest, compassionate and true professionals. Also, they all know how to use a stethoscope! #notjustanurse
