In 2010-11, she
represented 760 optometrists when she was elected president of the Indiana Optometric Association. She volunteers her professional services through free vision screenings to area school children, and is a spokesperson for InfantSEE , a non-profit organization that offers free infant eye assessments for early detection of vision disorders.
Just In A Day's Work:
What do you love about your job?
Great vision and eye health are essential for overall well-being and quality of life, so I love that what I do is important. I also genuinely enjoy getting to know my patients so
I can offer them a personalized eye care experience. Recently a patient posted an online review that said “Going to Dr. Robbins feels like family to me.” That’s the kind of doctor care I am most proud of, and why I love my job.
How did you choose your line of work?
I knew I wanted to do something in the healthcare field, but was uncertain of the specialty. My adviser told me it was difficult to be admitted into optometry school. That was enough to motivate me to pursue it!
What was the best business advice you have received and who gave it?

What are some of the obstacles (if any) you have faced as a woman in your workplace?
Early in my career, there was the issue of equal pay for men and women in the same position. But since joining Eye Care Associates of Michiana in 1999, the obstacles have not been there. From the beginning, I was fully embraced as an equal by my partners Dr. Tom Morton and Dr. John Offerle.
